Heat Staking

heat staking

There are numerous instances when the ability to produce high strength joints in the fabrication of assemblies combining metal and plastic parts offers design and cost advantages. Induction heating can play an important role in forming a strong, reliable joint without injuring the plastic through heat staking. Utilizing induction heating to locally heat the metal part to be joined allows heat to transfer to the adjoining plastic and causes the plastic to extrude through small holes or into knurling in the metal part, forming a mechanical joint.
